Illustrations Explaining Idioms From All Over The World

This is a series of illustrations explaining the meaning behind idioms from around the world. It’s brought to us by Hotel Club travel blog and artist Marcus Oakley.

“To have a wide face” in Japan means you’ve got a lot of friends, “To feed the donkey sponge cake” in Portugal means to give good treatment to someone who doesn’t need it, while in Poland “Not my circus, not my monkey” means it ain’t your problem. Interesting!

The word’s still out on what the hell “Like a Tic Tac at a football game” means, but I once heard a lady say that in reference to shopping on Black Friday. It’s plagued me ever since.
