The UK has a new twerking champion

Are you ready for this jelly?

Maybe you thought twerking was something people just did in their spare time, nothing serious. But, apparently some people take it very seriously indeed. So seriously in fact that there is such a thing as the UK National Twerking Championships.

Last night, at London’s Scala nightclub, there was an epic twerk-off featuring 13 ladies with names such as Cherry and Jelly Melly. True. Story.

The competition, hosted by Jump Off TV, is now in its second year and it just goes from strength to strength. Seriously, how do you even twerk while doing a handstand?

And we can now reveal that the winner of the bootylicious £1000 prize fund and a place on Minaj’s UK tour was….Jemini, seen here pulling a standard twerk (we score her a generous 6.5) in her short shorts. Nice.

Presumably she’s now off to represent us at the world twerking championships. We’re all behind you Jemini, right behind you.
